Homelidays Session Service has been develop under Windows 7 x64 SP1.

You should have administrator privilege on your computer.

To compile the source code you need to install:

  1. Install Visual Studio 2008 (We used Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition to develop Homelidays Session Service);
  2. Install Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1;
  3. Install MbUnit 2.4 in order to run C# unit tests. You can find the installer in the LibrariesThirdParty\MbUnit\2.4.2.355 folder of the source code.

To hack the source code, you will probably need extra tools we used:

  1. Install KB967631 - Update for Visual Studio 2008 SP1 Debugger in order to correct an important bug of the ASP script debugger in Visual Studio 2008.
  2. If needed install Microsoft Sql Management Studio Express Edition
  3. StyleCop. The source should stay “StyleCop compliant”: http://stylecop.codeplex.com;
  4. NCover to get unit test coverage reports. Code coverage should stay above 80%.

Other optional tools we used:

  1. Source Monitor to get statistics on the code. This helps to write better code;
  2. TestDriven.net for a better integration of unit test tools and NCover into Visual Studio.
  3. R# (http://www.jetbrains.com/resharper/)

Set up a web site to host the Session Service testing web site.

  1. On IIS configuration manager, create a web site that points to C:\Dev\SessionService\Site.
  2. The web site should answer to http://localhost
  3. Enable directory browsing

You’re done!
